The Midlife Tune-Up – We All Need it!

They say that if you change your oil and get your car tuned-up regularly, the odds of you having that car running smoothly for a long time is greatly enhanced. We all know this to be true, but how many of us follow the car manufacturer’s recommendations? Did you know that most car’s according to Toyota, GM, BMW, etc. are to brought in for check-ups/tune-ups every 30,000 to 50,000 miles? Yes your car is to have a tune-up every thirty to fifty thousand miles. What about you? Are you in need of a midline tune-up?

About the age of forty and every year thereafter a person should get a midlife tune-up? What would this include? In the ideal setting it would include:

Telling the physician your future health goals
Going over any health concerns you have had in the past year
Physical examination
Pap Smear
Hemoccult test (for blood in the stools)
Laboratory studies (blood work)

Some of the more common laboratory studies that would test for the following:

Hormone levels
Kidney function
Liver function\
Blood pH
Glucose Tolerance
Lipid Profile (cholesterol)
Heart Disease Risk Profile
Immune System
Vitamin Levels
Mineral Levels
Heavy Metal Toxicity
Blood Clotting
Cancer Physiology
Cancer Blood Tests

You see the average person feels ok and they think everything is ok. Just like your car is running ok, so everything in my car must be ok. The reason to take the car in, is so when you are on that long trip in the middle of nowhere your car doesn’t overheat because you are out of oil. Realize that by the time a person gets diagnosed with heart disease (angina, heart attack) or cancer they have had heart disease or cancer physiology for ten, twenty, thirty, or forty years? It is much harder to treat once the disease is established. Why not prevent it. Did you know that you can know today whether or not you have coronary calcifications (Heartcheck America test)? You can know today whether or not you have the beginnings of cancer physiology that can lead to cancer? Did you know that a man who is beginning hair loss has a 95% of keeping the rest of hair and/or growing some of that lost hair back by going on a comprehensive natural medicine/integrative program? Did you know that one of the biggest risks for getting breast cancer is the type of bra a woman uses and the amount of time she wears a bra?

There are many health facts that a person can learn about themselves by getting a midline tune-up? Don’t wait til its too late. Be preventative. Be pro-active. Don’t just be in ok health, why not be in awesome health. Feel younger then your stated age. See a natural medicine physician today and get tuned-up and most likely you will tone up. It will be the best investment you could make because it will be in you!
